INTRODUCTION

This project describes the speed control of Induction motor with the dsPIC30F4011 Digital Signal Controller. By comparing the sine and triangular wave (internal) dsPIC30F4011 generates the controlled switching pulses for inverter. The speed control is done by changing the frequency of reference sine and amplitude of sine from dsPIC30F4011. The motor speed is measured by using the proximity sensor placed on the Induction Motor and displayed on LCD.

HARDWARE BLOCK DIAGRAM

In this project the Three Phase Induction Motor is controlled by dsPIC30F4011. The Induction Motor power is converted from AC and Full wave rectifier. The 3Ph Inverter circuit formed using IRFP250 MOSFET and its gate is driven by TLP250 with separate isolator for TOP and BOTTOM MOSFET from dsPIC30F4011. The speed of induction motor speed is sensed by Proximity sensor

Details for H-Bridge 3 Phase Inverter Card 

The inverter card comes with inbuilt full bridge rectifier and filter capacitor. 6 Nos of IRFP250 MOSFETs are mounted with Heat sink. The output of the inverter is terminated with 3 pin PTB Connector. The user should get soldered on back side of the board for gate pulse interface. 

  • 6 No’s of IRFP250 MOSFET are mounted with proper Heat sink
  • 5A Bridge Rectifier with DC Filter Capacitor(1000uF/250V)

STEPS TO CHECK INDUCTION MOTOR SPEED CONTROL DEMO

  1. Connect Proximity Sensor to 6th Pin in Dspic30f4011 Kit.
  2. Connect Pulses to Driver board correspondingly.
  3. Connect 6 PWM Output Signal from Driver board to Inverter Drive.
  4. Download 3Ph inverter.hex file to dsPIC30F4011 controller using MPLAB Software.
  5. Press the key to vary the speed of the motor.
  6. Read the motor speed in RPM in the LCD Display.

NOTE

     First check the pulses in the corresponding pins in DSPIC. After that Connect with the driver board and check the output pulse in driver board. Next connect to the Inverter board as per the pulse pattern. Then Switch ON main power, if any short circuit occurs in inverter board or load fuse will blow off. Then replace the fuse, without identifying the problem doesn’t start the project again.

     While switching OFF first switch off Main Power for inverter.Next switch off Driver unit power.Next controller
