The single phase AC motor is controlled using a five level inverter topology. Inverter is a power circuit which converts DC to AC voltage by using switching devices. These switching devices are controlled on a particular pattern which in turn produces the AC output voltage. This AC output is used to control the single phase AC motor.

The closed loop control of AC Motor using Five Level Inverter is built using cascaded multilevel inverter this inverter switches are controlled by using SPWM technique. The speed of the motor is controlled by using a PI controller. SPWM (Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation) is a method of comparing the Sine wave and triangular wave to produce the pulse output. The Five Level Inverter denotes V, V/2, 0, -V/2, -V is a generated voltage level.
