Introduction to Three Phase Five Level Inverter

A Three Phase Five Level Inverter is a circuit which converts DC to three phase AC. Each phase is of 120degree phase shifted. To produce a three phase five level inverter here we use three single phase cascaded inverter with 120degree phase shift.

The pulse generation method is of SPWM technique. The reference sine wave is compared with the carrier triangular wave and the pulse is generated. For each phase two single phase inverter is used as cascaded method and forms the output. The five level is formed as V, V/2, 0, -V/2, -V corresponding to voltage.
