Description
Abstract
Landslide is the one of the most geological hazard that can damage the lives of human as well as animals. Many factors that can cause landslides such as rainfall, movement of rocks etc . So to overcome the problem of landslide and save the many of our lives we have proposed this project. In this project , we have used strain gauges as the main sensors. We are fixing particular nodes as reference nodes in hilly regions. Every nodes has the particular threshold value . If landslide occurs means , the resistance value of the strain gauge will change . This change will detected as a landslide. When landslide is predicted it will turn ON the buzzer. The continuous monitoring of resistance value will updated in IOT cloud. By monitoring the resistance values , we can predict the landslide and alert the people .
Existing system
There are several methods to monitor the landslides, they are,
- Rain gages sitting on the ground surfaces,
- Water content sensors buried at different depths, that measures how much the water content in the soil.
- Seismometers that senses ground vibrations etc.
Proposed System
Previous existing systems did not give the continuous update of the sensors, so we are using IoT based landslide prediction system. In this system, we are using Strain gauge as the main sensor. This sensor has the particular threshold value . We have to set the reference nodes in a particular hilly region. In every node we have to fix the strain gauges. If landslide occurs means , resistance value of the strain gauge will change and it will predicted as a landslide. After that , the buzzer will ON to alert the people. The continuous resistance value of the strain gauge will updated in the cloud.
Block diagram description
- In this block diagram, NodeMcu ESP8266 is used as the main controller.
- Strain gauge is connected to input of the NodeMcu.
- Buzzer and LED is connected at the output to alert the people.
- We can get the data’s in Thingspeak IoT cloud.
