Description

Abstract :

This paper presents a new methodology to identify energy theft and tampered meters as well as meters that are not working properly. It is based on a central observer meter that is responsible for metering the overall energy of a group of consumers under investigation. Deterministic and statistic approaches are used to determine which consumers have problems in their premises. Also, pattern recognition is used to discover energy theft using bypass.

The proposed project is to notify a message to the near by EB Station if any power theft happens. According to this project when a power theft happening at any distribution transformer, immediately the location and Transformer number, will be transferred to the EB Station. The EB Station will immediately send the person to that location and find the people who indulged in this particular activity.

The transmission of the information is achieved through the popular GSM Communication. The GSM Modem which is interfaced with the MCU sends an SMS to the EB Station. The content about the theft and the number to which the theft needs to be sent is decided by the Microcontroller.

Existing System :

  • Power theft is identified by manual operation.
  • Difficult to identify tampering meters.
  • Energy Billing are done manually.

Proposed System :

  • Power theft can be monitored easily
  • Tampered meters monitored through central observer unit
  • Energy Billing are done automatically
  • Efficient way of communication between users and transformers
  • High reliability
