ABSTRACT

One of the Renewable energy sources is a Solar system, which generates electricity from the solar light, Though this system is installed in many areas, the only disadvantage is if there is less light, it won’t generate electricity. And also disadvantage like it should face the sun properly to get sufficient energy. To overcome those disadvantages, we implemented this Raspberry Pi system, which is interfaced with servos and solar panel which having both automatic and manual control to tilt the solar panel. If I need to tilt the solar panel manually, we can change its angle by pressing some keyboard functions. For automatic control the solar panel direction, we can set time based on our location, by defining the latitude and longitude it will change its angle to make a solar panel to face the sunlight properly

BLOCK DIAGRAM DESCRIPTION

In the above block diagram, Servo motor is connected with Raspberry Pi GPIO pins and the Solar panel is fixed in the Servo so that to tilt the Servo motor with a solar panel in the angle of 0 to 180 degree.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This Raspberry Pi system allows you to do both automatic and manual control of solar panel, If you press some predefined keyboard buttons functions like automatic tilt using sun tracking by the time and location, the panel made to be faced on the light using the location and the time it will locate the sun. If we use any other key to control like defining the degree, we can tilt the solar panel by defining the degree.

  • HDMI to VGA converter (optional, when connecting to Monitor)

  • Solar panel

 

SOFTWARE REQUIRED

  • SD Card Formatter
  • Win32 Disk Imager (or) Etcher

 

LIBRARIES USED

  • RPi.GPIO as GPIO (To access GPIO Pins of Raspberry Pi)
  • Time library (For Delay functions)
  • pysolar

 

CONCLUSION

Renewable energy is a source of energy generated by the external source like solar, wind and hydro. TO make the solar system effective, we implemented this Raspberry Pi auto solar panel system
