DC-DC Chopper

DC-DC Chopper

Step down and step up chopper

  • A dc chopper module can be used as a dc transformer to step up or step down a fixed dc voltage.

  • The module can also be used for switching mode voltage regulators and for transferring energy between two dc sources.

  • The chopper was designed from a 30V/2A dc rectifier. The chopper Module efficiency is greater than 80%.

  • The chopper module consists of a SCR and diode with capacitor to construct power circuit. Each device is mounted on an appropriate heat sink and is protected. All the components are independent and their connections are brought out to front panel.

  • The devices and components can also be used to build different chopper circuits.

  • Integrated gate drive IC to generate the switching signals. The switching signals generated are a unique version of selective harmonic elimination, which produces a consistent starting point for the switching functions, independent of the number of harmonics eliminated.

  • The chopper module can be used for traction motor control in electric automobiles. They provide smooth acceleration control, higher efficiency and fast response. It’s also used in DC voltage regulators.

  • The lightweight aluminum base and cover also provides noise reduction and corrosion resistance.
